The Men of the Morning Calm Task Force (MMCTF) is the outgrowth of the core of men who in mid-1995 introduced Promise Keepers to the U.S. Military, DOD Civilian, U.S. Contractor, and U.S. citizens who are members of English- speaking churches in the Republic of Korea. We are recognized as a Promise Keepers Task Force officially affiliated with the Denver, Colorado-based Promise Keepers National Organization. We minister in the Republic of Korea under the endorsement of the United States Forces Korea (USFK) and Eighth United States Army (EUSA) Chaplain's Offices. The Men of the Morning Calm logo serves as a reminder to US Promise Keepers serving in the Republic of Korea to- have a calm time alone with God and revel in His word each morning as the sun rises over the mountains of Korea.

WHY A MEN'S MINISTRY?

As C.S. Lewis once observed, the fundamental reason that English men regularly frequent the local pubs is not because they need a drink, but because they need the fellowship, compassion, understanding, and support of the other men present. It's the same with a Men's Ministry.  Men simply talk more freely about themselves, their feelings, and their relationship with God more freely when they are just with other men. Men do not have the God-given gift women possess to communicate deeply and freely about spiritual and emotional issues.  Instead, men have a tendency to view themselves as unique entities - separate from their wives, children, and the families that raised them. We are taught to "go it alone" from an early age.  Unfortunately, we often try to do just that - and fail. A Men's Ministry gives men the environment and opportunity they need to talk about their struggles and mistakes as husbands and dads as well as their daily battles with lust, selfcenteredness, and greed.  Most importantly, it enables men to draw upon the corporate strength of other men to deal authentically men's issues at a serious level and go to God for help.  If you are looking for encouragement, help, spiritual grow -take the first step and join us.

PROMISE KEEPERS

MEN OF INTEGRITY

Promise Keepers is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to uniting men through vital relationships to become godly influences in their world.

PROMISE KEEPERS

STATEMENT OF FAIT H

1. We believe that there is one God eternally existing in three

persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

2. We believe that the Bible is God's written revelation to man

and that it is verbally inspired, authoritative, and without

error in the original manuscripts.

3. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless

life, miracles, death on the cross to provide for our

redemption, bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven,

present ministry of intercession for us, and His return to earth

in power and glory.

4. We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit, that

He performs the miracle of new birth in an unbeliever and

indwells believers, enabling them to live godly lives.

5. We believe that man was created in the image of God, but

because of sin, was alienated from God. Only through faith,

trusting in Christ alone for salvation that was made possible by

His death and resurrection, can that alienation be removed.

MEN OF THE MORNING CALM VISION

The Vision of the Men of the Morning Calm Task Force is to fulfill the mission of Promise Keepers for U.S. men serving in the Republic of Korea. How? Quite simply by encouraging men to commit to the following:

THE SEVEN PROMISES OF A PROMISEKEEPER

I . A Promise Keeper is committed to honor Jesus

Christ through worship, prayer, and obedience to God's Word

through the power of the Holy Spirit.

2, A Promise Keeper is committed to pursue vital relationships

with a few other men, understanding that he needs brothers to

help him keep his promises.

3. A Promise Keeper is committed to practice spiritual, moral,

ethical, and sexual purity.

4. A Promise Keeper is committed to build strong marriages and

families through love, protection, and biblical values.

5. A Promise Keeper is committed to support the mission of his

church by honoring and praying for his pastor and by actively

giving his time and resources.

6. A Promise Keeper is committed to reach beyond any racial

and denominational barriers to demonstrate the power of

biblical unity.

7.  A Promise Keeper is committed to influence his world, being

obedient to the Great Commandment (Mark 12:3031) and the

Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

PRAYER

Prayer is our first priority. Promise Keepers in Korea are active in supporting our local pastors through dedicated prayer. A number of men have teamed together by two's to spend weekly, dedicated time in prayer specifically for their local pastor. Additionally, men are meeting with our pastors each Sunday prior to their sermon to join together in lifting them up to Our Lord as they prepare to feed His flock.

SMALL GROUPS

Promise Keeper Small Groups are groups of 3-5 men with a similar desire to develop committed relationships that challenge and encourage each man to become a man of God. The men in these groups have made a commitment to meet to encourage one another and hold each other accountable by meeting for a specific period of time (normally one hour) at least once a week, to study Scripture and to pray with and for each other's needs and growth in Christ. Sharing family and spiritual goals as well as their common commitment to Christ helps each become accountable to his brothers for what he has committed to God.

If you are interested in joining a small group, contact MAJ Brian Smith at 723-8056.
